« on: October 01, 2013, 11:43:24 PM »
I just found out that Robert was selected as a finalist in the TrueFire Next Top Guitar Instructor. Check it out.

http://truefire.com/next-top-guitar-instructor/finalists/

Congratulations Robert! That's awesome and very well deserved!

I'll be watching the rest of the contest and videos and will certainly be voting for you. I hope all your Dolphin, Lick of the Week and Master Guitar Academy fans will also vote for you.

Go Robert!!!

Thanks guys, I'm excited about this!

Now I have to figure out how to make 5 killer lessons that people will love! Any suggestions?

Each lesson should be about 5 minutes long.

Difficult. 25 minutes of lessons is either too much talking (to stand), or too much info (to grasp).

Mini course:
1. cliché progression (like C G Am F) and theory behind it
2. chords in 2 positions
3. applicable licks and fingerings, against scales
4. How to connect and what to avoid
5. 16 bars full solo

Robert

Are you planning on using existing lessons or do you plan to make brand new lessons?

I don't recall how long the lesson was but I really liked your mixing minor/major pentatonic lesson.

Brand new lessons.

I send them a 5 minute lesson every week, for 5 weeks.

Good luck. Judging from many of your lessons, the problem may be only having 5 minutes... Good luck!!!!

And 2 from me, of both the old and the new username. Is voting limited per lesson? I think you said weekly?

Just to add, when you asked for suggestions what to do, this kind of approach I was thinking about, when I wrote what I have written. Even more, theme it's close to what I mostly play, I mean if explained in words (not in stylistic execution), so now when I see someone else doing it, it gives lots of new perspectives and ideas. I'll keep watching.

The final videos for TrueFire Next Top Guitar Instructor contest are up!

http://truefire.com/next-top-guitar-instructor/finalists/

Final chance to vote. In my humble opinion, Robert has really hit it out of the park with his series of videos and currently is the frontrunner... though I'm sure all of the finalists are out campaigning for as many final votes as they can get. We'll have to wait and see what the final results are.

If you are up for voting you better get your votes in now.

Good luck Robert.
