Overdrive Pedal Inquiry
« on: July 15, 2014, 10:52:23 PM »
Question for the market minded......is it a fair assumption that most overdrive/distortion pedals are geared or designed for tube amps? Maybe more so the "boo-teek" ones? From my personal experience, Boss pedals seem to be pretty much solid state friendly. After all, a pedal is only as good as it's supporting cast (amp, guitar pups, etc.) IMHO.

I believe they are because the pedals are designed to push preamp tubes into distortion.  Solid state amps aren't affected the same way.
