I'm looking into this AS93-VLS, however, there are two actual models under the same name, for about the same price.
From what I've gathered, the wood and construction are mostly the same, so should be playability.
I'll list the differences, so maybe someone could tell me what is a better deal.
Some (the most) of the differences I don't know what they mean, so an explanation from some Ibanez guru would be
most appreciated (I will google in the meantime):
- New ... vs. ... Old
- sure grip knobs .... vs. ... speed knobs,
- plain block ... vs. ... abalon/pearl fretboard inlays
- urn ... vs. ... blitz headstock inlay
- gold ... vs. ... pearl tuner knobs
- scratchplate ... vs. ... no scratchplate and different TRC (what is TRC?)
- Super 58 custom PUs ... vs. ... the ACH1 and ACH2 (Super 58 custom are different from Super 58 as in Sco's guitar)
- Expressionist 3pc Mahogany/Maple set-in neck ... vs. ... 3pc Artcore Mahogany/Maple set-in neck
- Flamed Maple top/back/sides ... vs. ... Flamed Sycamore top/back/sides
And then, there's this one, solidbody, but whatever, even a bit cheaper ... Ibanez AR325-DBS
