One thing I will say, he sure brought up a lot of freshness that needs to be address in modern day politics. I do wish him well.

I am both surprised and disappointed, because I think this will bad for USA as well as Canada and Europe. I think he is a bigot. Working class people who want change vote for a billionaire who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Makes no sense to me. But people get what they want. In four years, I am certain the people will have had enough.

To be a leader is to influence and empower others to make the best they can, towards a mutual goal.

I do wish him well too, and he deserves a chance to do the job. I hope he will be much better than I expect.

These are a few statements from Trump, which speak for themselves:

1. “An ‘extremely credible source’ has called my office and told me that Barack Obama’s birth certificate is a fraud”.
2. “The beauty of me is that I’m very rich.”
3. “You know, it really doesn’t matter what the media write as long as you’ve got a young, and beautiful, piece of ass.”
4. “One of they key problems today is that politics is such a disgrace. Good people don’t go into government.”
5. “The point is, you can never be too greedy.”
6. “If I were running ‘The View’, I’d fire Rosie O’Donnell. I mean, I’d look at her right in that fat, ugly face of hers, I’d say ‘Rosie, you’re fired.’”

and so on... what a role model huh?

I hope you don't take ANY of that seriously! Consider th' source! He's not th' only one that has made a laughing stock of this country and if you think he is, well dude you been MIA (missing in action). Wake up!

It's been the same two choices here since th' mid 1800s or so! Dummycrats and Republowkins! So, if it wasn't Trump, I'd be more of th' same, just warmed over. These "figureheads" don't run this country anymore than I do. Right now who knows what'll happen from here? Whoever winds up in office will simply be following instructions! Th' general public won't know 'cause the average joe don't pay attention! They'll write new (re-hashed) laws an' Joe Q public won't know what hit him! Same thing......different name!

Trumps $3.7 billionaire status is on th' low end anyway! Let him talk smack to Bill Gates (75 billion an' on pace to being a Trillionaire ), Warren Buffett (60 billion) Michael Bloomberg (40 billlion)and so on.

What you mean "take ANY of that seriously"? I think anything a presidential candidate says should be taken seriously. After all, it's a pretty important job.

Well, it was meant to be (a pretty important job), but as of late I wonder. For example, a debate should be just that......a debate! Not an insult-fest. These clowns spend more time fielding insults that addressing issues!

What I meant by taking any of THAT seriously is this........Donald Trump talks off the top of his head, has NO leadership/political experience. I don't know if any of those statements he made were for "the effect" or not. Most have nothing to do with the office in which he was a candidate for.

So, yeah it's a "pretty important" job! Too bad most of these clowns running for office take it lightly.

a neutral stance which saves much grief is to judge people based on actions, not words.  people tend to lie when they talk, even if they don't mean to...but a lot of them mean to lie, too.  whatever is in a person's self interest should be suspect...and your suspicions will usually be rewarded with the truth.

Well it looks like Trump at least has big business on his side. What many people don't know is that the US corporations have international investors running the show. So to really keep business in the US, some very strong and govt. negotiations from the top (in favor for the US people) is going to be needed. Sad, but I see it here in Japan also. The jobs have gone to other low paying countries. This must stop! High tariffs will and must be reinstated. Already, all I see is part-time jobs here. 4 and 5 hour shifts available. 8 bucks an hour.  Sad, but true.

as best i can tell, joe, the situation is about the same here.  will trump make a difference?

i don't know. time will tell.  the 'fabric' of this country is 'holey'...the monetary situation is not good.  the gov lies about inflation-they took out food and fuel, so how is their inflation measure worth a doodoo?  the middle class has had the crap beat outta 'em.

there's a lot of work to be done...and if it is done 'wrong', the consequences will be severe, i think...so i am waiting to see. so far, the press and the left wing are so hard down on trump and his prospects, it's hard to tell whether there is any 'truth' to be had.  the truth will be when i go to the small local grocery store, and i see 'hope' in the faces of some of the people working there...and others in like circumstances.  the bs on tv and on the radio is not to be fully trusted, imo.

You have to realize that Trump consistently lies about many things, and gets away with it. Do not trust what HE says. As the president, he will be under close scrutiny, because that's how it works. Look at his statements and make up your own mind.

His business dealings with Russia and others will eventually come out - that should be interesting indeed.

I'm not really interested, I do not live there, but if I was, I'd have voted for him, if for anybody. Clinton is just not an option.
People seem to be overly upset by things that never happened, they can not know will ever happen, there is not a single sign they will. It's just that someone is spreading the word, secret knowledge ...
I'd be pro Trump for the sheer level of campaign against him, as run by the most disgusting people in the whole of the universe, like the vast majority of media, Clintons, Soros, ex and current military and (counter) intelligence officials, half brained drugged athletes and Hollywood stars ... and so on ...

Also, he has business dealings with Russia. So what? Do you buy into Russia as an Evil Empire? Do you think Russian politicians are any worse than those from USA? Businessmen have dealings all around the world. It's perfectly normal and OK to have them.

Do you think Clinton, or Sanders lie any less than Trump, or have less hidden agendas?

For what I could see and hear of Trump, as opposed to what media tells me about him, he is serious and has great potential to do many good things. Just because that good, if it happens, will rub with what's over decades being marketed as good is another story. We all feel something's wrong, for a long time, but when someone steps in with, sincere or faked, we can not know in advance, intention to change something, we get all hysterical and, IMO, overly defensive, turn our selves into close minded fascist, but attribute all the guilt to hated enemy. Historically, for USA, enemy was Russia, so it is easy target, convenient to use against anybody, by saying not even they are allies, but they had some (business) connection.

Vladan,

'+1' on what you said.

i'm still watching to see what is DONE.  how does it affect the economy? will it affect me? heck, i don't know, but i'm sure hilla___t would have been either like or worse than her husband, and i was WORKING UNDER HIM DOING DEFENSE WORK when he was prez!  if someone doesn't understand national defense and the interplay between nations over world history, all they got to do is look at the *&^% world! allies become enemies, enemies become allies...orwell was correct-this happens regularly. a useful pasttime which is overlooked is 'reading history in depth'.

the bureaucracy is a big part of the problem. will the government change? anyone who thinks politics is not like making sausage would do well to educate themselves in history and economics.  conflict is a natural human condition..i wish it were not so, but i can poop in one hand and wish in the other and see which fills up first. another natural human condition is sticking one's head in the sand and thinking no one can 'see yer fanny'...this is how a bird gets eaten.

i've said more than i intended-maybe i should delete this post, but i'm not-no, by golly, i am going to edit most of it. i have tried to discipline myself to not tell people what they will not listen to and i just did that with this post....and i'm not coming back to look at this thread again. peace be with you all.
