Here's one of those kids I was talking about (LOL). He is pretty amazing for his age...

Try to ask that kid to make something up.... Then watch the deer in the headlights look on his face....

that's sungha jung!  dude, he's no joke.  the kid can play, and he get's it honest, with alot of very hard work.  he just dedicated himself younger than most, is all.  have a look, he has written some original stuff, and it's pretty good. he won't have that "deer in the headlights look" that you speak of.  instead, he'll play something awesome.

that said, even the kids out there who do mimic? so what? they're still bad-ass in their own way.
the originality will come in due time. here is a god example:

he jammed with ozzy and zack, this kid.  he plays, (and frets it clean) while singing in another language.  even if he was a mimic, so what? he flippin rocks, and he's 9.

sorry, i couldn't resist the pic, it was too funny not to use

I don't worry 'bout someone (younger or older) being better than me, 'cause that how's it's gonna be. As long as I can hold my own, jam and have fun, that's all that matters to me. Entertaining youngins' though. I "think" I might've been a bit better if I started at a younger age. Maybe not. At least I can hang.

That's Rene' Best playing the soundtracks, and his friend Maya does the artwork/video.
