So many zero post members!

Why do we have so many zero post members. Are we THAT BORING?

Anyone have suggestions on how to encourage more posts and traffic?

I really like this forum and don't want to see it die out!!!

I think it is really hard to get members who have the time to participate and become active on any forum these days. This forum has seen a few new people join which is nice, but I've noticed that the post are getting fewer and fewer. We are allowed to post just about anything on this forum which is cool. I don't know much about the design of Simple Machines, but seem like this design is nice. Robert has always taken my suggestions and done sometime with them and that has always made me feel part of the forum in its truest forum. What we may need is like have some kind of recording fest. I'm game for that. That may draw in some new members. Maybe Robert is working on some new ideas?

I think its almost summer and at that  time it is always a little slower on forums-weather gets nicer -people go out-then again with smart phones you can bring dolphin street everywhere you go-but i don't have a smartphone

I don't really know why not more people are active. Keep in mind though, many of these zero post members are just here to try and get a link to their website, by using a fairly scummy tactic... I delete zero post members after a while though, so they don't gain anything on doing this.

Perhaps we can have more recording parties? I can add a backing track, and members record their playing over the track, and post in the thread. Would that be interesting? One per month should be doable.

i had my own forum once.  it's hard to get them going.  if you just want more traffic, that's not that hard to generate. but the truth is, trolling for one-timers is worthless.  but what kinda traffic do you want?  what kinda forum do you want?  what sort of atmosphere are you after? there has to be a hook. that's just how the song is written.  one thing that might be interesting.  see what it becomes over time. those of you who post alot,  and have been here from early on (years from now) will have huge post counts, and have the bragging rights to stuff like "yeah....i was here back when we were on the old board. it was way cooler then, now it's full of noobs" then you post an eyeroll smiley face.
but seriously though - over time the people who are posting will sort of bleed out a little of their character into the personality of this board.  make it the place you want to be at, and other people will want to be there too.  here is a picture of a salamander.
