Gibson Melody Maker Series

Gibson has created a new Melody Maker line.  I saw one of these on the wall at my local GC.  I picked one up and wow, I really liked it.  I played the SG and Les Paul version.  There is also a really cool Flying V and Explorer.  If they had one of those, I may have picked one of them up.

Haven't seen one of those... how is it different from the current ones?

Huge differences between the normal Melody Maker and the new types.  The body is Pine instead of Mohogany, neck is Mohogany, but the fretboard is actually a roasted maple that looks and feels like rosewood.  From there Gibson uses a humbucker instead of a Fender like single coil.  Fretwork is decent and the finishes will wear as most thin skin Gibson do.  But for $539, minus their sale 15% off coupons, you can get that guitar for quite a steal.
