pickups
« on: May 29, 2011, 08:37:07 PM »
i put a set of burstbuckers (also pots and caps) in my roxbury.  un-be-frickin-lievable!!!

the difference is dramatic! oh, if i had any clue the results would be this pleasing!
it's probably the biggest, most positive effect on my overall sound from everything i've acquired so far.
well, this leaves no question about what pickups i'll be putting in the 335, down the road.
another bonus for me is, i found a good tech who has a fast turn around time, and prices are reasonable.

Yeah...Definitely let the tech do the 335. Working through the F-holes, etc. can be a pain sometimes!

Congrats!  Pickups make a huge difference.

thanks  ;D

these sure did!  i bought this guitar a year ago,  and i've always liked playing it.  the bbs certainly make a good guitar a better one.

I bought a Epiphone Les Paul Standard a couple years ago.  While the stock pups were ok, I replaced them with BB Pro's.  Didn't even replace any caps.  The tone was instantly improved.  A year or so later I bought a faded black Gibson Les Paul and returned it because the BB Pro's sounded so much better.

I wound up replacing everything in my Epi Les Paul starting with the pups. I have the Gibby Classic '57s and '57 plus pups, along with CTS pots and Sozo caps. Good to go now.

Now that's a professional stage worthy guitar in my book!

I don't mind free pup's either.  I don't need them though.  Worse case, I can sell them in favor of a couple pedals I really want!  ;D

That's the ticket! If I win something (which doesn't happen often) I don't use or need, I sell it for what I need..... like cash. ;D
