An Introduction

Hi everyone. I'm pictoratus, pic for short and I'm new here. I had just started to lurk on the old forum about a week ago, signed up but didn't get the email so I thought I'd come by tonight to see what was new and found the changed site. So signed up again and got right in.

I'm a relatively new guitar player, although I played bass about 25 years ago for several years. I bought a used Ibanez back in March of this year, which I've since sold, and decided to learn six string. Since then I've gotten a Squier SE Strat and a Peavey Generation Triple Single EXP. I find myself playing the Peavey more than the Squier lately.

My musical tastes run to Blues, Texas Country, Americana, and some Rock. I'm making decent progress on my path to becoming a decent guitar player and although it has been many years, I think the bass playing I did has helped.

Glad to hear you got in here easier now. The new software seems much better.

Yes, I used to do a lot of graphics work, mainly for the PC, desktop, etc. but now not so much. I've really been focusing on the guitar for the past several months. You have a lot of helpful videos I've watched and learned from.

Hey, I resemble that remark!  :)

I'm 52 and have been playing since I was 16.  My first guitar was a Fender Mustang, which at the time I just hated.  Action was too high and I couldn't get it in tune.  Soon after that I traded 'Stang for a Les Paul copy--an "Electra" if I recall correctly.  When I was 18 my father was desperate that I go to college, which I did NOT want to do.  I wanted to be a rock star, natch!  :>  He bribed me to go by offering to buy me a real Les Paul.  And my lifetime love of guitars had begun.

Hey, I too RESEMBLE that OLD SIDE of 50...seasoned senior citizen!  We need to learn new things to keep our brains refreshed!   ;D

I'm a good 15+ before reaching the half century mark.... But if it makes you all feel better, I've been told I have an old soul... Maybe that's why I love the blues so much!

Hello everyone,
I just joined this site yesterday. I posted a problem on Guitar Talk (B and E String Volume) I need help with. So if everyone can go there when you have a chance, I need help.

I am in the twilight of my 60s! But, since I retired last year my mind has reverted back to when I was a teenager and in my early 20s. I sarted lessons when I was 8 years old and took from the same teacher for four years. He never got me out of the first position! When I was in my 40s I took position study from a Berkley School graduate and I learned the entire fret board. Then I recorded four CDs on a four track recorder/mixer that I bought.

Long story short, I did not play the guitar for about 22 years. Now I am trying to get my skills back to when I was 45 years old, then I feel I will be able to go to the next level.

Robert, you are one of the best teachers on the net. Thank you for all your efforts. I am learning a lot from you and the others and can see I have a huge skill void to fill.
