Riffs after the licks
« on: August 08, 2011, 04:47:07 PM »
Hi Robert...I am enjoying working on the licks that you are providing but I am struggling to pick out the sections that you play after the licks that you don't provide any instruction for. They sound great and would love to learn how to play those as well. Maybe you could provide some instruction on those too. Perhaps more advanced players already play these but some of us rookies could use the help. Thanks for the free licks. Your playing and instruction are awesome.

Hi Bernie!

Not sure what you mean, but I try to focus a lesson a lick and not cover other stuff in the same lesson. Just to keep it simple. I do play other things like a rhythm groove or something, just to illustrate how it might sound to play the "taught" lick in a context.

Glad you like what I do!

I guess what I am referring to is the rhythm groove as you say.  Most of the ones that you play to accompany the licks sound great.  It looks like the main focus of your free lessons is the lick and not the rhythm groove that goes with it.  Just thought I would make the request/suggestion since you have been asking for feedback.  Perhaps you provide that feature in your fee based lessons.  Keep up the great things that you are doing.  I find it inspiring which gives me some real positive energy to practice more.
Thanks again for the freebies.
Bernie

ahhh, i understand you.  while you enjoy the icing, you want to also know how to bake the cake.
it's good to recognize the importance of a solid foundation. this is an area where  being able to recognize  key and or intervals goes a long way.

That's it.  Love the icing but want a good chunk of cake too.  Maybe that's too demanding for free desert.

not all the time.    look at the website, there are a few sprinkled here and there.

also, there are tons of guys posting free blues lessons.  especially beginner to light intermediate stuff like what you're looking for.  ever done a youtube search for lessons?   i would name a few but somehow it doesn't feel right.

since the initial post i have seen a couple few lessons aimed at beginners.  i think that's pretty cool. a guy walked in here from the web, and asked for something and he got hooked up pretty good. they are excellent lessons.  a beginner can do an awful lot with what is in there.  that was a pretty cool thing to do, imo.
