Down for a while
« on: September 14, 2011, 11:11:08 AM »
Well after an injury at work, I went in for hernia surgery on Monday afternoon. So I'm restricted to very light duty while at home and trying to get by with as little pain medicine as possible.

I haven't tried playing guitar yet but it's inevitable. Still trying to figure out which one is the lightest.  ;D

Arrrgh - that's made me curl up a bit in my chair.

Hope you get a quick recovery :) and if you've any Les Pauls don't even try to pick one up ... we'd probably hear the scream over here in Scotland.  :(

Thanks guys.

Luckily all my guitars are fairly light. I'm mending ok, it'll just take time.

now, pic, i'm only being halfway funny....

if you laid a guitar down on the table (or whatever) and did the double hand tapping thing....how'd that work??? i'd be interested to see how the workaround affected sound.

hope all is well and stays well with this for you.

I've had one of these, and managed with it for for over 20 years. Lucklily it didn't keep from liftin' most  guitars. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiatus_hernia . Either way, hernias are no fun (no matter what ever it type may be.). Hope everythin' turns out well.

Hey reb, I could try Jeff Healey style. Just get someone to put the guitar in my lap once I'm setting down.  ;D

I wish I still had one of these which I received as a present when I was about 10 or 12

Zag, no way I'm walking around for 20 years with this (I've got, or had anyway, an Inguinal hernia). Felt like something was down there tugging at my guts all the time  :o

That is a late sixties Japanese made Teisco hollowbody; sort of a 335 clone. Cheap as all git-out but oddly desirable nowadays by some collectors. Didn't sound bad but had feedback like crazy.

The one I was given as a birthday present came with a cheap amp and was purchased at a Western Auto store I think.

you know, pic, my first electric guitar was a fender musicmaster i traded a really cheap nylon string for. i played it through a monkey wards amp (i think those were airlines, but i may have memory loss, too).

i wish i had the airline back. i told my dad to sell it after i left home. had a 12" speaker. i have no idea what tubes or ???. dang. :)

some of the old stuff is coming back.
