Hi from Germany
« on: November 19, 2011, 06:33:36 PM »
Hi everybody,

bought a Hagstrom Viking few months ago after watching a review from robert on youtube.

Great guitar and I am 100 % satisfied.

Used to pay in a band years ago but stopped playing. Just started again and bought some new equipment.

I hopefully will find some time to post in here from time to time...

Playing through a small PA / and or a Marshall AS 50 D (Accoustic Amp) - using a Digitech Modelling Amp Effect

Since I am not performing in a band this is the best way for me to record the guitar directly out of the digitech into garageband.

ATM I am just doing a little bit homerecording to practice.

The AS 50 D actually sounds pretty good in combination with the digitech. I read before that accoustic guitar amps can be used with a modelling amp fx
because they actually do not change the sound of the input signal (like normal guitar amps do / every amp has its own characteristic sound).

It IS a very cool guitar, isn't it? Extremely versatile.

Welcome from The Land DownUnder.
I have recently purchased a Hagstrom Super Swede, they are very nice guitars but I think I will sell it, I have tried but don't get along with it, I find access to the frets close to the guitar body a real pain to play on the Les Paul style of guitars & that is an area I like.
Think I will stick to my Strats or maybe try a Flying V.
Cheers.  8)

I did not purchase exactly the same modell, it was the cheaper hagstrom viking II...
Payed 350 euros I think...

I was really surprised by the quality... The guitar has a great sound - clean and also great sounding even with a lot of distortion (via fx pedal). It stays in tune - even if I take it after lets sa a week without having played it is 100 % in tune!
Neck feels great!

:) Welcome to the forum from another Hagstrom Viking player - a Deluxe (second hand). Like yourself a YouTube video was a useful guide for me - some great tones from Matt Thorpe - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vGM-8jG_ds.

It took a few months to get used to the guitar, but it's one I do really enjoy playing. It's also one I'd enjoy playing even more if I could play like Matt Thorpe or Robert here.  ;D

Hagstrom seem to have a good reputation for quality and value for money.

Of course I got the Hagstrom before Robert's video demo came out so I hadn't seen that - a quick look at that video just now makes me think it would also have made me want one.

That Matt Thorpe is a sweet player, the Hagstroms have a lovely tone.
I noticed the cutaways are a lot deeper on the body of the Viking giving much better access to those frets than the Super Swede I am not sure what Hagstrom where thinking when they designed it like that, I checked out Matt Thorpes vids with the Tokai Love Rock & it has a deeper cutaway too, guess that is what happens when you don't get the chance to try out before you buy.

If I manage to record some stuff in the near future I will post some stuff for sure.

My time management is atm a little bit - critical - I would say.

Working fulltime 45hrs+ per week while doing a Master of Arts in Management: Accounting & Finance in the evenings and weekends. So normally Its sunday evening when I find some time to play /-:
