I'm trying this again!
« on: January 08, 2012, 09:30:49 AM »
Hi everybody!  As my subject line says, I'm trying this forum again.  Last year, I signed up and I was only able to post twice.  I had a lot of trouble logging in, so I just gave up.  I think part of it had to do with my old (slow) computer.  Now I have a better computer, so I decided to join again.  I really enjoy Robert's lessons, so I had to give this forum another try!

I introduced myself here: http://www.dolphinstreet.com/forums/index.php/topic,417.0.html last time, so check it out if you want to know a little more about me and my gear (maybe Robert can delete that old account (?)).  Anyway, I hope this time around I can stick around more!

hello there 2nd try!  no, it wasn't yer old computer. lots of us had trouble with logging in.
in our effort to combat the evils of spam, we are trying to find a balance between security and convenience.  i myself complained of this very thing not that long ago, and it was addressed very well, i think.  robert works real hard to make this a cool place for us all to hang out, and it shows.
i hope you'll enjoy it here.  post often!

Thank you guys for the welcome!  In my initial post under my old account, I mentioned my guitars, so I thought I'd post a picture of some of them.  These are my bolt-ons.  My other electrics are my Epiphones (a Dot and a Custom).

L to R:  Ibanez Jet King II, Harmony Strat Copy, Tradition CAB10T Tele Style,  Custom HSS Tele Style

I haven't been playing very much lately, but I would like to get either an acoustic/electric of some kind or a loop station.  Maybe that will get me into the swing of things again.

I'm glad you all like my guitars.  I love my Jet King also.  It is my favorite guitar (well, along with my Dot).  I bought it in 2008 through AMS.  When I first saw a red one in their catalog, I wasn't really attracted to it, but then I went online and they had a black one as their 'deal of the day'.  It was a deal too good to pass up, so I ordered it.  I'm really glad I did, because it feels, plays, and sounds great!

I don't think Ibanez makes them anymore :(.  When I got mine, the Jet King III and IV models were coming out (mine is a Jet King II).  I've heard nothing but good about them.  An internet friend of mine from another forum bought a Jet King III with p-90s and he really love his also (and this coming from a guy who owns a bunch of guitars, including Gibsons).  Anyway, if any of you stumble across a Jet King one of these days, I say add it to your collection - you won't regret it! :)

Thank you!  I have an Epi Dot and an Epi Les Paul Custom also (both older, MIK models), but I don't have very good photos of them. :)

The Korean made Epi's are some of the best quality instruments you can buy.  I believe when Epi moved to China, PRS took over Epi's factory in Korea.

I agree.  Both of my Epiphones are great instruments.  As I mentioned above, my Dot is one of my favorite guitars.  Right now, it's the guitar I've been playing for the past six months.  I'm going to take my Les Paul Custom out next (hopefully I can take some good photos of the two Epiphones together).

I'm taking my Epi Dot to the Luthier today.  There is a fret problem at the 12th and I messed up the new pickup install.  Broke a ground to the neck pickup and its too much of a pain to fix myself...

I just read your Epi Dot thread.  That's a beautiful guitar!  I hope you get everything squared away on it to your satisfaction.  I don't mess with my guitars...Murphy's Law likes me too much :D!

When that one is fixed, my Heritage 140 goes in for some electronic troubleshooting...
