But what are you using to record to Cubase are you miking your amp?

Sometimes but normally I use the Line Out on my Line 6 Spider Jam and to Line in on my computer. Or I record it directly on my Spider Jam and can transfer it to the computer afterwards if I need to or I can just Jam along with the track playing from the amp.
That amp is so versatile. When my wife is singing she is singing through the amp but not so we can hear it from the amps speaker but again Line out from the amp to the computer. The amp have a XLR Connection for Microphones so Im using it as a pre amp.

Yeh thanks Klaus that makes sense, I don't think I have seen a Spider Jam Amp.
My first amp was a Line6 Spider3 15watt & it was the worst sounding amp I have ever heard, very artificial tones.
I just checked out online looks cool 75 watts 12" Celestion etc.
All the music you post is done on the Spider Jam?

i have audacity.  what i need is a way to add effects.  i've tried several different versions of guitar rig, but have yet to actually make it  do anything

I use a Line 6 Pocket Pod.  You can output the sound from the computer back into the POD, then record that.
