Hi HJ

Yeah that is a good idea. Even better if more that one person from here made their version of the same song. Im sure they will turn out very different and that would be interesting.

I am not very good at this recording caper & I am not real good at playing ;D & I have given up on recording to the computer via my Guitar Port as I am not happy with the sound compared to my amp, but I will give it a go recording straight from amp to my Zoom H1 when I get some spare time. I was thinking of  Oye Como Va as that was a Robert lesson. It won't be  a Santana version but my Feeble take on the song & to make it more of a challenge I am thinking of using my Smokey Amp!!!!! Oh Yeh! the challenge has begun  :o

+1! I too, need the right stuff in order to accomplish the task at hand. I listen to the guys that do have recordings in here (good ones too) and I'm like "wish I could do that stuff". I'll get it right soon.

See this book if you are new to recording.

If you're on a Mac it's all good - just use Garageband

On a PC, try Audacity.

I also have Audacity. I've recorded already, but I need the right software etc. instead of the crude method I've been using for better quality recordings. There are a few things I have yet to get. I've used Box and I have a Soundclick account
I have yet to use. I'll get it in time. I really need a computer specifically for recording. This thing I have now just won't do as it has too many other obligations.

I know the feeling I have had no luck with using Line6 Gearbox the high gain sounds are like bees buzzing, clean is ok but that is not what I want, I have tried every combination of cabs, speakers, distortion, overdrive & they all sound bad.
I have given up with computer software I just waste too much time fiddling with it, it is very frustrating. I will just use my Zoom H1 Handy Recorder miked direct to my amp, it works ok but not the best way to do it I am sure ::)
