NGD! Fender 60's Classic Player Strat!
« on: March 29, 2012, 02:45:39 PM »
For some odd reason, I had in me to look up Stratocasters on Guitar Center again today. Set in a price range and started looking. On the fourth page, I spotted a "just arrived" MIM Sunburst Strat for $299. Eh, not bad. Seen those for sale on CL for cheaper. Opened the picture and WHAM!!! That was not a MIM Standard Strat. Two point tremolo and heel adjustable truss rod.... That could mean only one thing! That is a Classic Player Strat priced wrong! They run between $550 to $700 on the used market. Couldn't believe it. Thank goodness for income tax refunds!

 Spec's on a 60's Classic Player:

Designed by Fender Custom Shop Master Builder, Greg Fessler
 Vintage Ping Tuners
Fender Custom Shop '69 Single Coils
 12" Radius
Two Point tremolo with vintage saddles
 Full Vintage logos
Tinted Maple Neck with rosewood fretboard
 Heel adjustable truss rod
 Mint Green Pickguard

Congrats!

Those are quite nice.

I think I will get a Fender Strat one day, if I can find a good one. Just to have another Strat - I love strats. Although my Suhr beats any Fender Strat I have ever played. Only thing is that I'd like a guitar with a slimmer neck for certain styles of playing. My Suhr has a fat neck, which I do love, but some styles are harder to play with a thick neck.

The neck on this isn't as thin as my Roadhouse/Lonestar Strat and doesn't have the soft V my Tex-Mex had, but it is thin enough to be comfortable.  Even though it has a glossy neck, its poly which is easier to slide around on than nitro.

I still can't believe the deal I got on this bad boy.  I send a text to my wife about it.  She told me to buy it if I feel its necessary.  I felt it was and said I bought it.  Then I brought it home and she immediately asked, "So are you going to keep this one or sell it in a few weeks."  I replied, its going to stay forever.  I might sell the Dot, but at the moment, I'm hanging on to everything I have!

I took off the PG yesterday so I could wire up the tone control to the bridge pickup. I was very pleasantly surprised to see the pickups were initialed and dated by no other than Abigail Ybarra!

BONUS!

Yeah, it's a American Standard Strat. I was going to get the '50s Classic Player, but the neck on this one is just right. Wider.
