Thinking of buying a mid priced Telecaster.

Should cost max 600 €. = 780 $

Has anyone made an experience with the G&L Tele Models (I think they are called Asat or something)

I have played an ASAT Special, the ASAT Classic Bluesboy and a Legacy model. Recently, I've had my eye on that ASAT Deluxe Carved Top (from the more affordable "Tribute" series). Never had the chance to own any these models, but I like 'em. i have a carvin tl60, which is pretty much a telecaster. having played (and still own) a couple squier teles...i think they need too much work to bring up to 'ready to go'.

i would play a wad of teles before i bought one. i think there is a lot of variation between models. i saw jen sygit on backstage pass the other night. her guitar player has a tele, and it sounds great...but it's 'not a standard tele':

and i don't think this guy is just anybody with a guitar, either...so, maybe that's no help, but good music.

fralin has a video someplace with an mim tele and his pickups in it...the good stock mim's can be found...but the pickups are ceramic in them...and i dunno if they would hit you right.

While I have not played a G&L ASAT myself, I have many friends who have them and prefer them over an actual Fender Telecaster.  They've all claimed that Leo Fender took the Telecaster design and improved it significantly.  I've seen the MIA versions sell for the price you're looking at.  I don't think you can go wrong with either a G&L or a Fender.

i have a local store her who offers a g&l asat classic for 440 euros...

Gonna sell my boss me 70 and an old guitar plus my boss dr rythm ( dont use the stuff anyway) and will get the guitar next week ...

will also have to buy a chorus plus a delay and a tuning pedal (there is a good one from morg with truenbyoass) to put these into the fx loop of my bogner alchemist tube ampl.

I recently played a G&L ASAT Classic Bluesboy, and really enjoyed it...I would highly recommend this guitar - but considering the characteristic neck shape and twangy sound, you might want to test before you buy.

I tried out that G&L ASAT CLASSIC TELE but I did not like it at all...

The setup was nearly a catastrophy (the strings were way too high) and it did not stay in tune for more than 2 minutes.

I actually wanted to either buy a tele or a strat - something contrary to my Gibson Les Paul.
I was not sure so I tested out a few guitars.

I actually bought a used "Diego Stratocaster" - I guess that company is nearly unknown in the US (at least what I read in some German Forums).

I guess that guitar is really rare in the us,  most reviews from Germans lol....

That thing sounds really superb, was setup perfectly and I could just take it from the wall and play for 45 mins - it was in tune and it stayed in tune.

Those Diego Guitars are not built anymore. They are made in Germany (Hannover I think) by the same company that produces the Duesenberg Guitars.

The original mechanics were replaced by original fender parts (at least the "stringholder"?!? (right English Word) and the bridge.

I will post pics in a different thread later and may write a review if I tested the guitar out properly...

I think Diego is owned by Duesenberg? Anyway, a German brand. Seen some here, but only in one store (that's now bankrupt).

For tele... depends what you want.

Modern bridge vs traditional bridge? Three or 6 saddles?
Rosewood vs maple fingerboard?
low or high output pickups?
etc.

I didn't particularly fancy the Chinese G&L models (that I played in another store now bankrupt).

yeah, Diego is a German brand, by the same company that builds the Duesenberg Guitars. (Göldo / Rockinger from Hannover, Germany)

I already bought that Guitar (used of course) in a small Guitar store here near Bremen.

I think the Fender Baja Tele you mentioned has just three saddles right?

I would have prefered somethin with six saddles... btw diego also built teles so maybe I ll get one of those in the future...
