Slowing down songs is another great way to learn from records and your song collection. I use Song Surgeon, which works really well for this. Check it out.

Guitar Lesson Overview

Here is a useful blues lick that sounds great over the IV chord. In a 12 bar blues, we always play the IV chord on the 5th bar, so that's where you can throw in this type of lick. You should experiment with changing the ending of the lick. It's mostly the first six notes that make this lick "click". I am sure you have heard this lick before. I first heard it from Stevie Ray Vaughan, and I think he got it from Freddie King. Eric Clapton often plays this type of lick over the IV chord as well. Enjoy!

Robert I have to tell you I like your approach to music and teaching. I have for years been in position in band of mostly playing Rhythm and My strong point has been singing . That said now that I am really into blues I have found your teaching very useful and look forward to your emails. Being a Disabled Vet I have time now to focus on learning.
